Jake's regular team, the Nationals, doesn't play in the Fall, so he's playing with the Rangers. It's a new team formed from a bunch of boys in the same boat as Jacob, so we weren't sure what to expect. We got a pleasant surprise, and they played pretty well. Especially when you consider they had exactly one practice and had never played together. They ended up tying 6-6. Jake stole his way all the way around to score.(Did you know the weird rule that says if a catcher misses on the third strike you can run?) Then he was walked and went around again. Once Jake gets on base he is virtually impossible to catch. The boy has great wheels!
Aaron is back with the Mudcats. They only had one new player and it showed. The boys were firing on all cylinders and looked great- also with only 1 practice. Aaron hit a great single down the third base line. Then he was disappointed as he tried to steal home and got caught. Everyone in the stands thought he was safe, but we bit our tongues in the name of sportsmanship.Neither of the boys had much chance to play any defense, some days the ball just never seems to come your way. But anyway, it was a nice hot(yes, it's hot again) day and everyone was happy on the way home.
