Spring training has officially begun. Aaron's team has already started training for the baseball season, and I'm sure Jake's will follow soon. It's so funny to have scrimmages scheduled when it's 40 degrees, knowing it will be close to 100 before the season's over.
Sam competed in a Solo and Ensemble competition hosted by her middle school band and scored a one, the highest mark. Woohoo! It is so amazing to see how well she plays and how many cool songs she has learned, like Mission Impossible. Especially after all those weird squeaks and squawks we heard coming from her room when she first started her clarinet lessons.
Unfortunately, she got a very unwanted and unappreciated gift for her birthday. Nothing like having the flu to make life jolly. She missed most of a week of school and then was drowning in make up work and tests, so never really had much energy to celebrate later on either. And she was quite the little ray of sunshine too. We don't like the flu in the Causey household. Not one little bit!
I am is still subbing for the elementary schools and see some strange and fantastic things almost every day. The other day, I was subbing a week in kindergarten (what was I thinking?!?!) and we went out to recess. When I got to the back door by the playground, this cute little kinder teacher says to me, " Did you see my class when you walked by? I think I forgot them in the room." Say what?! Well, you know how easy it is to forget the little details, like say... your whole class!!! She had gone to borrow something from another teacher and seen the other classes go out, so she just went out for duty, then realized she didn't see her kids. (on the good side- they were all lined up, sweet and quiet, and waiting faithfully for her to come get them) Don't judge too harshly, I don't know how on earth kinder teachers stay sane! All those little bodies, always in motion, always busy busy busy. I'm sometimes surprised they don't run screaming from the building. It's a good thing 5 year olds are so sweet and cute. I'm just saying.
Church callings and activities are accounting for a lot of our time lately. The boys are busy with Scouts, Sam with being the Beehive secretary and going to all the great YW activities, William is the Primary pianist, in addition to the other 2 callings above, and Shannon is the Relief Society President. Off the streets and out of trouble, we always say. It's a good life and we find a lot of joy in the fellowship and service. It's all good.
